Minor to moderate flooding likely across parts of Gippsland with
major flooding possible in the Cann and Genoa catchments during
Sunday.
A low pressure system tracking into eastern Bass Strait is likely
to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to parts of West, South and
East Gippsland during Saturday and Sunday.
Catchments across Gippsland are relatively wet. In the 24 hours to
9:00 am Friday widespread rainfall totals of 5-20 mm have been
recorded across Gippsland with isolated totals of up to 50
mm.
During Saturday and Sunday rainfall totals of 30-80 mm are
forecast for parts of West, and East Gippsland with 80-150 mm on
the slopes east of Lakes Entrance. Higher isolated totals are
possible.
Minor to moderate flooding likely across parts of West and East
Gippsland from overnight Saturday into Sunday with major flooding
possible in the Cann and Genoa catchments during Sunday.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Bemm, Cann and Genoa Rivers
Snowy River
Tambo River
Mitchell River
Avon River
Macalister River
Thomson River
South Gippsland Rivers
The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation
and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks,
and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and
debris across roads.
