Additional areas of minor flooding are possible across the flood
watch area during the weekend.
A deep low pressure system over the northeast of Victoria will
move to the Tasman Sea this morning. A southwesterly airstream will
become established this afternoon ahead of a strong cold front that
is forecast to sweep across Victoria during Sunday.
In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Saturday widespread rainfall totals of
30-95 mm have been recorded across Gippsland and parts of the North
East and the Otway coast.
An isolated higher total of 125mm was recorded at Mt Moornapa.
Catchments in the flood watch area are relatively wet.
Rainfall totals of 10-20 mm are forecast across eastern Victoria
with higher isolate totals of up to 30 mm possible in East
Gippsland.
Additional areas of minor flooding are possible across the flood
watch area during the weekend..
A major flood warning is current for the Mitchell River and minor
flood warnings are current for the Snowy, Avon, Macalister,
Thomson, Latrobe, Bunyip and Upper Murray Rivers and the Traralgon
and Dandenong Creeks,
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Bemm, Cann and Genoa Rivers
Tambo River
South Gippsland Rivers
Yarra River to Coldstream
Yarra River downstream of Coldstream
Otway Coast
Kiewa River
Flooding is no longer expected in the following catchments: Seven
and Castle Creeks, Ovens and King Rivers
The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation
and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power
lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into
waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks,
and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and
debris across roads.
