RENEWED RIVER RISES WITH MINOR FLOODING ARE POSSIBLE IN THE FLOOD
WATCH AREA FROM SUNDAY MORNING
A low embedded trough is crossing the State on Saturday, bringing
heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area.
Catchments in the Flood Watch area are wet as a result of the
recent rainfall. Elevated river levels are observed across the
catchments.
Widespread rainfall totals of 20-40 mm are forecast for Saturday,
with isolated higher totals up to 80 mm possible in the elevated
areas. Additional rainfall totals of 10-30 mm are forecast for
Sunday across the Flood Watch area, with isolated higher totals up
to 50 mm possible.
With the forecast rainfall, renewed river rises are expected and
areas of minor flooding may develop in the Flood Watch
catchments.
A minor flood warning is current for the Snowy River
catchment.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Bemm, Cann and Genoa Rivers
Mitchell River
The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation
and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

SES advises that all community members should:

to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater
drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power
lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into
waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks,
and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and
debris across roads.
