For people in Furneaux Islands, North East, Central North and
parts of East Coast and Midlands Forecast Districts.
Issued at 9:56 am Saturday, 5 March 2022.
Damaging winds in northeastern Tasmania on Sunday.
Weather Situation: A cold front will push through the central and
eastern parts of the state this evening. Vigorous southeasterly
winds following the front will strengthen overnight into Sunday
morning, then gradually ease during Sunday afternoon.
DAMAGING WINDS with peak gusts in excess of 80 km/h are likely
throughout the warning area from early Sunday morning, before
easing Sunday afternoon. Recent rainfall has led to saturated soils
in parts of the northeast, so trees may be more susceptible to
falling down.
Locations which may be affected include Launceston, Scottsdale,
Whitemark, Bridport, St Helens and Fingal.
