Flood Watch Number: 2
Flood warnings continuing for Macquarie, South Esk, Meander and
Jordan rivers with renewed rises expected. Minor to moderate
flooding is likely in flood watch catchments from Friday
morning.
A low pressure system forming over western Victoria overnight
Thursday will move to the northeastern Tasmania on Friday morning,
bringing widespread rainfall statewide. Thunderstorms are also
likely.
Catchments are wet and will be responsive to the forecast
rainfall.
From midday Thursday to end of Friday, rainfall totals of 20-40 mm
statewide are forecast, with potential for locally heavier falls of
40-60 mm with thunderstorms.
Minor to moderate flooding is possible from Friday morning.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
North Esk River
East Coastal Rivers (north of Bicheno)
Ringarooma River
North Coastal Rivers
Tamar (Launceston)
Mersey River
Huon River
Channel Coastal Rivers (South East Cape to Gordon)
Derwent River (including Ouse and Clyde rivers)
Coal River
East Coastal Rivers (south of Bicheno)
South East
Minor flood warnings are current for the following rivers:
Macquarie River, South Esk River, Meander River and Jordan
River
