Flood Watch Number: 1

Flood warnings continuing for Macquarie, South Esk, Meander and Jordan rivers with renewed rises possible. Minor to moderate flooding is also possible in flood watch catchments from overnight Thursday into Friday.

A low pressure system forming over western Victoria late on Thursday will move to the northeastern Tasmania on Friday, bringing widespread rainfall. Thunderstorms are also likely.

Catchments are wet and will be responsive to the forecast rainfall.

From midday Thursday to end of Friday, rainfall totals of 15-30 mm statewide are forecast, with potential for falls of 40-50 mm.

Minor to moderate flooding is possible from overnight Thursday into Friday.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

North Esk River
Tamar (Launceston)
Mersey River
Huon River
Channel Coastal Rivers (South East Cape to Gordon)
Derwent River(including Ouse and Clyde rivers)
Coal River

Minor flood warnings are current for the following rivers: Macquarie River, South Esk River, Meander River and Jordan River
