Initial Flood Watch for Huon and Derwent catchments
Issued at 2:20 pm EST on Wednesday 8 September 2021 By the Bureau
of Meteorology, Hobart.
Flood Watch Number: 1
Isolated Minor flooding possible from Thursday afternoon.
A vigorous cold front will cross Tasmania on Thursday.
Catchments in the flood watch area are wet.
Widespread 20-40 mm is expected during Thursday, with heavier
falls possible about western ranges.
Rivers are expected to be responsive to forecast rainfall.
Isolated minor flooding may develop from Thursday afternoon.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Huon River
Channel Coastal Rivers (South East Cape to Gordon)
Derwent River (Including lower Derwent tributaries such as
Tyenna and Styx.)
