Intense rainfall rates are occurring over periods of 2-3
hours.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 11:20 am, very dangerous
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Fernvale,
Conondale and Hatton Vale. These thunderstorms are slow moving.
Very dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect Laidley, the
area north of Woodford and the area west of Conondale by 11:50 am
and Gatton, Upper Brookfield and Mount Kilcoy by 12:20 pm.
Intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening
flash flooding is likely.
Heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris
across roads.
Cooran recorded 133mm in 2 hours to 6:15am.
Pomona (Hill St) recorded 106mm in the 1 hour to 7:30am.
Mt Glorious recorded 164mm in the 3 hours to 10:30am.
Withcott recorded 100mm in the 3 hours to 10:30am.
Upper Lockyer Alert recorded 105mm in the 3 hours to
10:30am.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
