For people in parts of Ipswich, Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley
Council Areas.
Issued at 8:11 pm Friday, 26 November 2021.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:05 pm, very dangerous
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Rathdowney to
the NSW border. These thunderstorms are slow moving. These
thunderstorms are likely to produce very heavy rainfall over areas
that are already saturated. This may lead to dangerous and
life-threatening flash flooding with these storms.
Rainfall rates have eased through the Lockyer Valley area, but a
continuation of moderate rainfall may prolong the flash flood
threat in this area.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
