Damaging wind gusts possible along the far southeastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt tonight.

Weather Situation: A high pressure system to the southwest of Tasmania will progress to the Tasman Sea tonight, while a trough lies over western Qld and SA. This is producing a vigorous easterly flow over parts of the Great Dividing Range.

Strong winds averaging 55 to 65 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS in excess of 90 km/h are possible over elevated terrain in the far southeastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt from Thursday night into Friday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Stanthorpe.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
