Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

GIANT HAIL HAS OCCURRED WITH STORMS NORTH OF MACKAY
Weather Situation:
Storms with possible giant hail between about Yeppoon and
Proserpine, particularly between about Mackay and Sarina over the
next hour.
Storms with possible damaging winds moving off the Herbert and
Lower Burdekin coast.
Storms with possible damaging winds and large hail in the Wide Bay
and Burnett and southern Capricornia districts.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the
next several hours in parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper
Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin and Central Coast and
Whitsundays districts. Locations which may be affected include
Charters Towers, Bowen, Townsville, Ayr, Alva Beach and
Clare.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and
large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the
Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may
be affected include Hamilton Island, Monto, Eidsvold, Gin Gin,
Miriam Vale and Seventeen Seventy.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce giant hailstones over
the next several hours in parts of the Central Coast and
Whitsundays and Capricornia districts. Locations which may be
affected include Mackay, Proserpine, Hamilton Island, Marlborough,
St Lawrence and Sarina.
Giant hailstones estimated greater than 10cm reported from
Bloomsbury, north of Mackay.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
