For people in parts of Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast
District.
Issued at 7:01 pm Friday, 4 March 2022.
Severe thunderstorms may result in heavy rainfall over coastal
parts of the southeastern Wide Bay.
Weather Situation: Thunderstorms are developing in very moist air
near a northward moving surface trough located just inland from the
southern Fraser coast. A secondary line of showers and weak storms
has recently developed and is likely to track over areas affected
recently by the first line of storms, leading to a potential for
flash flooding.
Severe thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall that may lead to
flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Maryborough and
Tiaro.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
