Showers and thunderstorms leading to heavy falls for the tropical northeast coast. Slow moving severe thunderstorms also about the southwest.

Weather Situation: A trough near the northeast tropical coast is enhancing shower and thunderstorm activity and leading to heavy rainfall. A second trough lies trough western Queensland. Severe thunderstorms are developing in the moist environment to the east of this trough.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Herbert and Lower Burdekin district. Locations which may be affected include Townsville and Rollingstone.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
