Severe thunderstorms possible over western parts of the state.

Weather Situation: A very humid and unstable airmass to the east of an inland trough over South Australia and the Northern Territory is leading to the development of severe thunderstorms in the southwest of the state.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Channel Country district. Locations which may be affected include Nappa Merrie, Mt Howitt Station, Orientos and Ballera.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
