Severe thunderstorm northwest of Gympie has weakened, broad heavy
rainfall threat remains.
Weather Situation:
Severe thunderstorms occurring in a very moist unstable
environment.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may
lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several
hours. Locations which may be affected include Kingaroy, Cherbourg,
Goondiwindi, Chinchilla, Miles, Biggenden, Imbil, Kilcoy, Mungindi,
Nambour, Nanango and Tara.
52mm at Mt Sylvia (southeast of Toowoomba) in the hour to
2:30pm.
94mm at Delaney's Creek (south of Woodford) in the hour to
3:20pm.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
