Issued at 10:52 pm Sunday, 21 November 2021.
Thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall and damaging winds are
banding through the eastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt.
Weather Situation: A developing low pressure system over southern
Queensland is drawing in moisture from the Coral Sea. An upper
trough strengthening over southern Queensland is providing a very
favourable environment for severe thunderstorms this evening and
into the morning across much of the south east of the state..
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and
heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area
over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected
include Warwick, Toowoomba, Dalby, Stanthorpe, Oakey and
Chinchilla.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
