A large and slow moving thunderstorm complex over the Channel
Country producing heavy rainfall.
Weather Situation: A tropical airmass ahead of a low pressure
trough will continue to trigger thunderstorms across southwest
Qld.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may
lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several
hours. Locations which may be affected include Windorah, Boulia,
Bedourie, Morney, Brighton Downs and Middleton.
A long-lived thunderstorm complex observed via weather satellite
is displaying strong lightning activity and development on the
northeastern and southeastern flanks leading to increased exposure
of possible heavy rainfall at point locations.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
