Severe thunderstorms are occurring across various parts of the state.

Weather Situation: A humid and unstable airmass to the east of a trough in the interior is triggering thunderstorms this evening.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Thargomindah, Clermont, Charters Towers, Mornington Island, Quilpie and Delta Downs Station.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Peninsula and North West districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

Goondiwindi recorded a gust of 96 km/h at 4.27 pm

Pikes Creek recorded 37mm in 30 minutes to 4:45pm.

Scottsdale (southwest of Warwick) recorded 45mm in 30 minutes to 6:00pm.

Birdsville recorded a gust of 91km/h at 8.04pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
