Gusty thunderstorms over northwestern parts of the state.
Weather Situation: A surface trough is triggering gusty
thunderstorms over parts of the Gulf Country and North West this
evening.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the
warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be
affected include Doomadgee, Croydon, Donors Hill Station and
Iffley.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Northern
Goldfields and Upper Flinders and North West districts and the
warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
Julia Creek recorded a 91 km/h gust at 4:51 pm.
Richmond Airport recorded a 90km/h gust at 6:46pm.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
