Severe thunderstorms continuing across central parts of the
state.
Weather Situation: A very moist and unstable airmass is combining
with a pre-frontal trough and cold front across central
Queensland.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and
heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area
over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected
include St George, Hebel, Mungindi, Clermont and Dirranbandi.
Upper Retreat (W of Emerald) recorded 78mm in 1 hour to 7pm
Silver Hills (W of Emerald) recorded 63mm in 1 hour to
6:45pm
Kilmarnock Station (SW of Clermont) recorded 50mm in 30 minutes to
6:15pm
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
