FLOODING LIKELY FOR THE SOUTH WESTERN PARTS OF NORTHERN
TERRITORY
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Tiffany is currently inland over the Northern
Interior of Western Australia. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Tiffany remains
a deep tropical low and will re-enter the Northern Territory this
evening. The tropical low will move across the Lasseter District
overnight, then weaken rapidly near the South Australia border
during Monday.
Rainfall in this area has been seasonally high to date, although
catchments on the surface are relatively dry, they are quite moist
at depth.
During Sunday and Monday, the Western Desert and Warburton
catchments can expect rainfall totals of 50 - 100 mm with isolated
falls of 150 mm or more possible. The Tanami catchment can expect
20 - 50 mm with isolated falls to 100 mm possible in southwestern
parts.
The heaviest falls are expected overnight tonight. Rainfall is
expected to ease during Monday, although thunderstorms during
Monday and Tuesday may continue to produce isolated heavy
falls.
Many areas may experience localised flooding and areas of
inundation with many roads becoming impassable and communities and
homesteads isolated.

Tanami Desert
Western Desert
Warburton District Rivers
Eastern Great Victoria Desert
