Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Australian Capital
Territory Forecast Districts.

Damaging winds likely to develop over southeastern New South Wales
late tonight and early Friday.
Weather Situation: A low pressure system will intensify over
western Victoria this evening and then track east-southeastwards
towards eastern Bass Strait on Friday morning. In response,
vigorous northwest to westerly flow will develop over southern New
South Wales.
Widespread DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts
of 90 to 100 km/h, are likely to develop over alpine areas around
midnight and rapidly extend to the remainder of the warning area
before sunrise Friday morning. Wind gusts in the 100 to 120 km/h
range are possible over the higher alpine peaks.
Winds are expected to ease during Friday afternoon and
evening.
Further west across the southern Riverina and Lower Western
districts, widespread damaging winds are no longer expected,
however severe thunderstorms with the potential for localised
damaging winds remain possible over these areas, and Severe
Thunderstorm Warnings will be issued as necessary.
Locations which may be affected include Nowra, Bowral, Batemans
Bay, Eden, Bega, Moruya Heads, Goulburn, Cooma and Bombala.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Riverina and Lower
Western districts and the warning for these districts is
CANCELLED.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and
balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects
that may be energised, such as fences.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more
unstable and more likely to fall.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour
Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093)
as shown on your power bill.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape
may have changed following bushfires.
