FLOODING POSSIBLE IN NSW NORTHERN-RIVERS AND MID-NORTH COAST FROM TUESDAY

RENEWED RIVER LEVEL RISES POSSIBLE ALONG THE RIVERS IN THE NORTH WEST SLOPES

A low-pressure trough is expected to bring showers, rain and severe storms to the northern and central parts of NSW during Tuesday and Wednesday. This rainfall may cause minor flooding along rivers in parts of the NSW Northern Rivers and Mid-North Coast. Renewed river level rises and flooding is possible along the Upper Macintyre, Gwydir and Namoi Rivers from Tuesday, where flood warnings are current.

The weather system is expected to cause flooding for the catchments listed from Tuesday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

Additional Catchments likely to be affected include:

Tweed and Rouse Rivers minor flooding
Brunswick River and Marshalls Creek minor flooding
Wilsons River minor flooding
Richmond River minor flooding
Orara River minor flooding
Bellinger and Kalang Rivers minor flooding

Flood Warnings are current for the following catchments: Hunter, Severn, Macintyre, Gwydir, Namoi, Castlereagh, Macquarie, Bogan, Lachlan, Murrumbidgee, Mirrool Creek, Murray, Warrego, Paroo and Barwon Rivers.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.

Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed.
